Paperwork complete.... For now

All of the paperwork that we were given has been notarized, authenticated by the Secretary of State, and authenticated by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office. We sent everything to Taiwan and it arrived yesterday. The next step is for them to file for our court date. Once they file, it is usually 6-8 weeks before you receive your court date. Once we receive our court date, we'll make our first trip to Taiwan. We'll get to meet Alexander and hopefully start to bond. During that trip we will go to court and do some site seeing in Taiwan. Unfortunately we will not get to bring Alexander home that trip. We are praying that we have the funds for the trips and that the courts will move quickly so we can bring Alexander home sooner rather than later.

The Call!

On May 6th we received an email saying that we had a referral coming so we should keep our phones close. For a week my phone did not leave my side. Every ring, text, or beep made my heart race. Finally, on May 14th at 3:54 am my phone rang and it was not a US number. It was our referral call!! 489 days after they accepted our application, we know who we've been praying for. We will be the parents to Alexander Nathaniel! Since he is not legally ours yet, we are not able to post pictures but as soon as we are allowed, I will get them up.

We still have a very long journey ahead of us that includes two trips to Taiwan. We ask for prayers that the courts will move quickly and in our favor and that all financial needs will be met. We also ask that you pray for the birth family as I'm sure this will not be easy for them.

We are so thankful for all of the prayers, encouragement, and financial support. We thank God for the life He chose to be a part of our family.

Latest News

We received our summons to go get our biometric prints done so those are now complete. We should have everything done for the adoption on the US side.
We are still stuck as far as referrals for a baby go. The Taiwanese government is not releasing the babies for international adoption in hopes that a Taiwanese citizen will adopt them and keep them in the country. The missionaries don't want to give referrals until the babies are released for international adoption so they don't refer a baby then have to take it back. That would cause a lot of heartbreak for the family to get a referral then have it taken away. Please continue to pray that the government will release these babies to be adopted. That's all to update right now.

It's not all sunny days

You know the saying, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all? Well, the past couple of months, I haven't said anything at all. We try to make everything sound good and positive but the truth is, it's not always good and positive. It's hard! We try to focus on the good and the positive because that's what it takes to get you through the hard times. I do want to give an update though.
Several things have been mixed up in our paperwork. There is another Boyd family adopting from the orphanage and we are working with three agencies so there are lots of places for errors and mix-ups to be made and they are happening. There have been a lot of set backs. They have only done one referral since the end of November (that we know of). So even though we're in the top ten, things aren't moving very quickly. Remember all the people from the last post who were going to give us the things we need? None of them are replying back to me and two of them have moved off of the island. So, I'm sure we can safely say that we can't count on those things anymore.
I wish that I could give a better report of our progress. The agency assures us that things are moving forward even though it doesn't feel like it. We just keep telling ourselves that God has a baby meant for our family and our time will come. Patience is hard but we know it will be for the best in the end. Please pray that God gives us patience and understanding through the process and that things run more smoothly. We really hope and pray that 2015 is our year.
